NARS Lip Lacquer in Capucine

(Capucine, pictured left)

Tester: British Indian, about Padma Lakshmi’s complexion with med. pigmented lips that are dry.

“This is the lip gloss equivalent of the drink “Sex on the Beach”. It’s a sheer tangerine with a touch of red and dreamy flecks of gold. The orange shade looked much brighter in the pot than on my lips. On my lips I got a sheer orange with bit of a coral tone, which I loved combined with the golden shimmer.

It’s so super sexy, a few layers can make a bombshell pout, but this color is also versatile. I was able to wear it during the day applying a light layer over a more neutral brownish/red lipstick and loved the effect as well. It really went well with my skintone, and the color really perked up my face on days when I didn’t have much time to put on a full face of makeup.

This formula was very moisturizing and not sticky at all. Like many of NARS products, this gloss is very pigmented, so a just a touch of gloss on my brush really gave me a great color payoff. The staying power was also very good for a gloss (hours and hours before I needed a touch up). This worked much better for me with a lip brush, so I would recommend this over a applying with your fingers. It should be noted that this gloss doesn’t really have a scent/flavor per say, but there is a slightly plastic-like one that does dissipate quickly after applying.

This color will work best up to a Gabrielle Union shade on women with warmer (yellow, yellow/orange, red, & red/orange) undertones.”

If you are looking for a hot, fun gloss color, that’s not the traditional red, then this is IT. Worth every penny for this delicious beauty indulgence.” L.H.
