Impulse Buy of the Week - Dolce + Gabbana MakeUp, Inc. The wonder Italian designing duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been one of the most successful European fashion brands for over 20 years. They easily moved into fragrance several years ago and now have several scents to their name.

Recently, they partnered with global creative design director at Procter & Gamble Beauty (and world famous makeup artist for runway, print and celebrities) Pat McGrath, to create a new line of cosmetics, Dolce Gabbana Make Up.

Gold packaging is always a sign that glamour and sexiness is not far behind for me, but beyond the beautiful thin gold sheet metal cases for the line (weighty, beautifully finished and slightly understated in it's simple D & G logo/lettering), this is a makeup lovers makeup line.

I think if you love color, texture, beautiful finishes and formulas this is a luxury makeup that you will gravitate towards again and again.

We've also got the exclusive scoop on two new Dolce Gabbana MakeUp collections: The Romantic Collection (on counter September 09) and The Golden Beams Collection for Holiday (on counter October 09) and I'll be talking more about those as well...For now, enjoy these beautiful selections!

Below are some of my favorite products and the shades from the permanent collection.

The Classic Cream Lipstick - Chocolate

I really fell in love with this product. The lipstick is creamy, silky and moisturizing. The shade is a beautiful brown with red accents and will work on a wide variety of skin tones for a nice neutral (not nude) lip. The staying power is fantastic as well. The finish is semi-matte with a nice sheen. The lipstick has light rose scent which is lovely and dissipated within a minute or so.

The Eye Shadow -Duo, Gold & Quad, Stomboli

The Eye Shadows are also wonderful in this line. I loved Gold, which appears in the pan as if it is a very bright light gold and deeper yellow gold, but on my skin both shades were actually very soft, with really pretty shimmer that made it perfectly suitable for day time. They could be layered nicely in the evening for a more dramatic look.

The colors are warm, silky and soft. I found it very easy to blend and layer the shades and I loved the generous mirror in the compact as well for touch ups. I loved using the eye shadows with the Stromboli eyeliner (featured below) as well.

The Stomboli Eye Shadow Quad was another favorite. All four of these very pretty, very flattering shades (shimmery gold, bronze, soft reddish copper and sparkly soft black) are very pigmented, soft and silky. The colors are brilliant in the way the work together and individually as well.

All the colors are so silky and never caked, flaked or creased during the day. I love this quad because the shades can really highlight the eyes and give you the opportunity to create either a bolder, smokier eye, or a more natural every day look. It's versatile, will work on all skin tones and it literally goes with any other makeup (blush, lip) colors you may use. Note: The actual color blocks in the palette are on the small side, but because of how little you need, you will still be getting a great deal with this quad.

The Bronzer - Bronze

I loved the bronzer because the texture was so smooth and silky and the effect was really natural looking. It didn't have too much shimmer and Bronze was the perfect brown/gold/red combination for my skin. Again, this is another product in the line with great staying power, did not cake or become powdery/dry looking during the day.

There are four shades in the bronzer so there is sure to be one that will work for you.

The Mascara - Black

For all you mascara junkies, here's another one for you!

The wand is on the longer side with a long brush with lots of thick, dense bristles, and the formula is on the drier side.

This is an interesting mascara in that upon applying my first coat I got nice length and definition for my lashes, but it was still fairly subtle.

Then I applied the second coat and - wow! Long, lushes lashes appeared instantaneously.
There was no flaking, my lashes stayed soft and supple and it was easy to remove at days end.

Definately a winner!

The Eye Liner - Stromboli

I absolutely adored this eye liner. Stromboli is a very soft black with pretty, gold glitter. The glitter is very small, and the sparkle effect is very subtle so again this can easily be worn during the day.

The texture of the pencil is on the harder side, but surprising applied very smoothly with no tugging or skippping along my lips. Because it's harder, it is very easy to draw a fine line, or create a more smudged smoky look with the sponge tip on the opposite end of the pencil.

The Blush - Provacative

Not only is Provacative one of the prettiest pink blushes I've tried in a while, but the compact's brush is actually really good for blush application! This is a mid-tone pink that is very sheer on the skin. The texture is silky and very blendable. It gave me a nice, soft luminosity, and because it's not sparkly it looked very natural.

This pink will work on both lighter and darker skins to bring a beautiful pop of color.

The Nail Varnish - Stromboli

Nail polish lovers, you're going to want this ASAP!

Stromboli is the compliment color to the Stromboli eye liner and eye quad. It appears a little more gold in the picture (left), but it's, again, a soft black with a tinge of deep green with tons of gold micro shimmer. This is so pretty at night! It's a semi-thick, creamy formula which applied very easily and smoothly. With two coats it's rich, shiny, sexy and glam! -RLB
