I am completely enamored and enchanted with CHANEL's 2010 couture show looks featured a few days ago in Paris - from the heart shaped bouffants with huge pretty, silver and pastel bows, to the orange/coral red on the lips, the silvery pastel blue on the eyes and of course the "minx"-like shiny silver nails!
According to CHANEL designer Karl Lagerfeld, he was going for "liquid silver,” “neon baroque,” and “chemical pastels” with this collection.
It turns out CHANEL Global Director of Makeup, Peter Philips, used CHANEL Rouge Allure in Genial, an as-yet-unreleased shade from the brand’s upcoming summer Les Pop-Up collection. He used CHANEL's new Ombres Contraste eye shadow duo in Gris-Subtil, and Les Tissages de Chanel in Tweed Corail on the cheeks.
Here are some ideas that will work for everyone:
-Add pretty pastel colored hair bows, pins, or headbands with crystals, lace, flowers, satin bows and organza to your hair. Search on Etsy for really unique creations. Sephora also has this very cute Satin bow headband. You can even stack a few of them in your hair in different colors...
-Pick up some big, chunky, shiny silver barrettes or clips for your hair.
-Experiment with pastel nail shades - Robin's egg blue, mint green, Easter yellow, baby pink, grayish lavender and soft lilac. Illamasqua and Rescue Beauty Lounge have some really pretty, and unique ones.
-Try a silver Minx nail application to replicate the nail color used in the show.
-Use a deeper coral on the cheeks and lips for those of you with darker skin tones
-Try add a few pastel clip-in hair extensions into an updo or long ponytail for a fun evening look
-If you have long hair, try teasing the top part and adding some pretty pink, powder blue, lavender or mint green hair accessories in the shape of hearts or butteries, which are what these CHANEL bouffants remind me of! - RLB
