Beauty Find - Hourglass Cosmetics During many of my exclusive interviews with celebrity makeup artists over the years, they've told me how much they love an Hourglass product here, and an Hourglass product there.... Well, I felt that I’d been admiring this line from afar too long, so this was the perfect time to jump in and try some of their products!

The first thing that you must know about this line is that the packaging is absolutely exquisite - Many of the cosmetic cases are a beautiful rose-gold/bronzed metal which I’ve never seen anything quite like. As you’ll see in a minute, each one of the products has been thoughtfully created and designed, and the formulas inside are just as amazing...

Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF 15 (pictured, above) - This foundation is a revelation - It is possible to have a formula which gives skin the most amazing glow (yet still natural looking), diminishes uneven skin tone, and is moisturizing - but not greasy. From the moment I brushed this on, I was in LOVE. My skin looked amazing, and now I see why makeup artists rave about this product - and use it on their beautiful celebrity clients to give them a look which takes it even further up a notch.

e foundation comes in a beautiful pump dispenser bottle and it’s very concentrated and smooth, so I needed only 2 pumps for medium coverage. I loved the finish - luminous and glowy. I used Sable, which is currently the darkest shade in the range of 6 shades, which was a great match for my skin tone. Request to Hourglass: let’s extend the shade range to incorporate additional darker colors please!

The texture was wonderful - soft, flexible and applied like a dream. I love a formula which is buildable, and this is a great one. It was very easy to add just a touch of another pump of product under the eyes, for instance, for more coverage akin to concealer, and for any little spots.

With my
Hourglass Retractable Foundation Brush, I blended very well and the finish was just perfect. One thing to note is that this actually has anti-aging skin care technology built right in it too! The foundation looked great all day and provided just the right amount of moisture while not making my t-zone look too oily. Last, but not least, this amazing formula also has SPF 15, which is fantastic. This is worth every penny!

I also discovered some tips to get the most out of the Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF 15. Shake the bottle very well before using, and apply with a foundation brush (I used their Hourglass Retractable Foundation Brush, (pictured, here) which is spectacular and worth every penny for the quality of the brush, the design and the brush hair, and the beautiful application I got with it). I also tried it with my Beauty Blender sponge and got very nice results, but personally, I prefer the brush application.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15 - Again, this is just an amazing formula that really impressed me. It’s concentrated as well, so I didn’t need very much for full face coverage - just a few pumps.

This primer, combined with the fluid makeup which I describe above, was a home run "1-2 combination" that took me from early morning to any evening event fully confident that my makeup still looked a

The primer went on clear and dried quickly with no white/gray residue. The texture is light, silky and almost lotion-like. It even brightened up my skin a bit after I applied and left my skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. This
provided the perfect base for foundation, and also has some sun protection, which is nice.

Hourglass Prodigy Hydrating Lip Gloss - With this product, the small, flat compact modern design truly grabbed my attention. But it’s the actual colors and formula which I fell in love with.

I used Surreal, a shimmery golden pink, and Pulse an iridescent soft berry-pink, were great shades to top off neutral lipsticks. I loved how light, extremely hydrating (but not oily) - almost “water like” they felt on my lips. The glosses weren’t sticky in the least. The gloss is dispensed by a very cool squeeze slant top and soft tube, in which you can see the product through the front window, which is perfect when you’re on the go and don’t have access to any brushes, etc.

The shades are very true to the packaging - pigmented and offering beautiful color, but sheer at the same time - with a beautiful touch of shimmer, or iridescence, depending on the shade. I love that I can fit this in any pants pocket, jacket or even wallet it’s so thin - it reminds me of a little mini makeup i Pod!

Volume 6 Palette
in Zodiac -This is now one of my all time favorite palettes. The colors and finishes offered here are amazing.

There are 4 eye shadows, which are all stunning - a beautiful shimmery eggplant, sparkly black, taupe with a touch of gold and peach/champagne. The textures of the shadows are silky, creamy and very easy to apply and blend - almost like butter.
The colors stay in place all day with excellent wear.

The pigmentation is fantastic in not only the shadows, but the two included lip glosses - one a sheer pink with shimmer and the other a pinky-bronze with beautiful color dimension. These have amazing shine and silkiness.

Again, there's no sticky texture and they glided on my lips like a dream. These are in the neutral zone, but with shimmer and dimension for days, they are perfect to layer over lipstick or to use for a “your lips but better- with a kick” look.

The shades will work for all skin tones and the shadows in particular lend themselves to a beautiful range of looks and smoky eye combos.
The palette case itself is a work of art and ingenuity! It includes a tiny brush (The brush hair quality again is very good ) with two ends for lip gloss and eye shadow perfect for on-the-go touch ups.

The compact mirror under the top of the case swivels in two directions - side-to-side, and up-and-down, and stays in place - amazing. The palette comes in a pretty faux suede cover, which I liked carrying it in to keep it from getting damaged while I’m in transit.

Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner Ebony - If you love eyeliner pens, Hourglass has a winner here as well. This pen has an extremely thin felt tip which is saturated in the liquid formula (but appears dry to the eye), so I only needed to apply the slightest pressure to begin drawing a line on my upper lid.

I loved that I could make very thin lines (using Hourglass's technique of creating a series of small dots along the upper lash line), or a, thicker, more dramatic swoop for a sexy cat eye just as easily. The formula lasted all day long - with no fading, smudging or blurring. It’s also a waterproof formula which is perfect for summer/humid temps, and yet was very easy to remove with cleanser - what more can you ask for?
