Donna Karan is known for creating memorable and distinct fragrances that can be held as classics for years on end. Iris, is the newest fragrance to join the Donna Karan Collection of fragrances. It’s unique, comforting and creates a distinct mood all at once.
The essence of this fragrance is a mix of iris, violet, magnolia, rose de mai, and Vetiver.
The Iris is captured for this scent in a truly artisanal hand process, with the root of a mature iris collected, washed and peeled and then like wine, left to dry for many years.
What captivated me the most is how the opening notes were actually very creamy and almost “dewy” in their feel - thanks to a creamy Magnolia note running throughout.
After about 20 minutes, on my skin, I began to detect more of the Iris, a bit of the citrus note of Vetiver and, finally, a warm, musk dry down, which was sophisticated and relaxing. This is not a “bold”, scent, but it did have fairly good lasting power on me, and I rather liked how the dry down lingered a bit on its own thanks to the Ambreet seed notes. I would usually reapply in the early evening to recapture that floral creaminess that I described earlier.
This is a very pretty scent that Donna Karan fragrance lovers will be drawn to, and anyone looking for something just a touch different for Spring. In addition, the bottle is pure Donna Karan - bold lines, deep dark color, strong and architectural in its feel. - RLB
