OSCAR BEAUTY EXCLUSIVE - Interview with Madonna's Makeup Artist, Gina Brooke

Beauty.com Celebrity makeup artist, Gina Brooke, is the "woman behind the woman" to help create what she has coined her "Fresh, Beautiful, Radiant Look" for the one and only Madonna.

Gina has been Madonna's personal makeup artist for 8 years. She's given Madonna amazing looks for everything from her iconic Hard Candy CD cover, to her music videos, countless red carpet appearances, magazine fashion spreads, and her most recent 2010 Oscar appearances.

Now, Gina is sharing some of her beauty treatments and steps she used to create Madonna's Oscar look with us. You'll also learn about 2 exciting future projects Gina has in the works as well!

Gina explained to me that every session with Madonna, and all of her clients, begins with the skin -
and she shared an amazing new skin treatment from an Australian skin care line.

It's called Intraceuticals (and it's a Hollywood insider beauty secret!). Gina administers the Intraceuticals Facial Treatment to Madonna for approximately 30 min before beginning makeup application. The facial consists of a hyperbaric Oxygen treatment, layered with hyrolaunic acids. Gina says the effects of the facial are simply incredible - after a treatment, skin is plump, hydrated and toned, and fine lines are minimized. The results of the facial treatment also last up to a week and also improves the plumpness of lips!

Once the facial is complete, Gina begins prepping the skin and then working on the eyes.
To get a effect similar to Madonna's, for priming the skin, Gina recommends trying Hourglass Veil Mineral primer SPF15. You can also try Giorgio Armani Light Master Primer. They give skin a luminous, satiny finish, and restore moisture to the skin.

Next it's on to the eyes. Gina likes working with gel liners to make the lash line look thicker. To get Madonna's look, try using L'Oreal HIP gel liner or Shu Uemura Painting Liner in brown. Next, she curls Madonna's lashes and then applies mascara. Gina says she likes to use mascaras that give lush, thick lashes for Madonna. To get a similar look, you can try Giorgio Armani's Eyes to Kill Mascara or YSL Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara in black.
To keep brows in place, Gina likes to use products like Elnet and then brush the brows up. You can also try Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray.

For foundation, Gina always uses one that has creamy, hydrating formula with good coverage, but with a luminous finish. You can try Hourglass Veil fluid foundation SPF 15 (shade 1.5 for fair skin) or Lancome Absolue Bx Makeup SPF 18.

For highlighting, you can try Highlighter Opulence Intraceuticals Infusion which is an easy to use pen formula made with a botanical complex. Gina applies highlighter to various areas on Madonna's skin, such as down the bridge of the nose above the lip. Another great choice is YSL's TOUCHE ÉCLAT
Radiant Touch pen.

Madonna's cheeks are usually very simple and fresh, and Gina kept it that way for the Oscars. Gina says to try CHANEL Cheeks Joues Contraste 59 Imprevu. You can also try Shu Uemura's Glow On blush in 31C.

Gina completed Madonna's look with a peachy/beige lip for the Oscars. You can try Hourglass lipgloss in Eden, along with Shu Uemura lipstick in # 945 for a similar effect.

Gina is also busy working on a new beauty book which I'm sure will be amazing and will be sure to give you more details when it's complete. In addition, she has also completed a fantastic collaboration with Vogue Italia on a series of limited edition haute couture false eyelashes that are going to be spectacular!
