If you are a true lover of makeup and/or a makeup artist, it doesn’t get much better than this little gem from one of my favorite new makeup lines, Illamasqua.
Illamasqua Liquid Metal, part of the new Body Electric Collection (shown below), is a metallic cream that can be used in a variety of ways – as a cream Eyeshadow, highlighter, body makeup, and can also be mixed with other blushes, eye shadows, etc.
It’s extremely pigmented – which in the case of the shade Enrapture, means I got a beautiful explosion of metallic copper (Solstice is a great choice if you want a true yellow gold effect). The package is not very large, but just a small amount is needed for your application.
For an eye shadow, I used a flat eye shadow brush and lightly layered the cream on my eye lids (I got the best results by using a primer first). It was extremely smooth and gentle, and it blended like a dream.
I loved how much I could play with it. I could add 2-3 layers for a really dramatic look, or just one, blended very well for hint of beautiful copper. I loved how it gave my skin a sheen/glow, as opposed to just bright glitter/shine. Having said that, it does have glitter, but the particles are very fine so the glitter effect is pretty, but not over the top.
Another one of my favorite ways to use this was mixed with my cream blushes and as a highlighter on my cheekbones, brow bone and even my décolletage at night. I used a makeup sponge to blend the shades together. For a novice this might seem intimidating, but it’s really easy to do. I also blended this will a dry body oil spray on some occasions, as well as lotion, for a beautiful shimmer on my skin - perfect for summer nights!
I loved how it wore throughout the day. The cream didn’t crease, melt or drift on my skin, or give me greasy feel on my eyelids, which was very impressive. A pleasant surprise was the fragrance – it’s a really pretty white flower scent, that fades with time. Pick up a few of these and play! - RLB
