Cover Girl has just raised the bar on drugstore concealers with the all new Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Concealer.
I recently attended a launch event for the new concealer which now joins the rest of the Cover Girl Queen Collection foundation products which include the CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Pressed Powder CoverGirl Queen Collection Compact Foundation and CoverGirl Queen Collection Oil-Free Moisturizing Make up, all designed with all women of color, no matter what their ethnic background, in mind.
The new concealer comes in 4 shades (Golden Honey, Sheer Espresso, Warm Caramel and Classic Bronze), which will work with a wide range of skin tones, from those more in the yellow/olive range, to very dark brown. If you'd like to get color matched - click here!
Celebrity makeup artist (and one of my favorite people in the beauty industry), Sam Fine, led the product demonstrations during the recent launch event for the concealer.
Sam explained that these new concealers have a completely modern technology behind them, hence a silky, light feel, beautiful color that melts into the skin seamlessly is easier than ever to blend to your desired look. On the model, Sam demonstrated for me his technique of layering several coats of the concealer and blending with a makeup sponge from right below the lash line down to almost the center of the cheek on each side. He explained that this helps lay the canvas for seemless color blending when it's time to add the foundation on the outer perimeter, and remainder of the face. Sam also showed me how he used a blend of the concealers to get just the right shade balance for the under eye area. In the case of the model, it was Golden Honey and Classic Bronze.
Just for fun, Sam also honored my request to make up his model in the new Queen Collection Concealer, some CoverGirl Queen Collection Compact Foundation and finish the look off with the CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry 230- which is one of my new favorite cheek color products (review coming soon!). See the lovely results in the picture, left.
I played with the concealers and loved them as well. The formula was light and silky and completely buildable for more or less coverage as I needed it. The shade matching was also perfect (Classic Bronze). The sponge applicator tip was very good for applying and blending, but for those of you who prefer, it worked equally well with a cosmetic sponge and fingers.
If you've been hesitant about buying a drugstore concealer because of fears of quality and matching your skin tone - worry no more. Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Concealer is a well thought out and budget-friendly line for you. - RLB
