Urban Decay's Naked Palette Proves That Neutrals Are Anything But Boring!

As hardcore of a makeup collector as I am, for some reason palettes have never been my cup of tea. I love to look at them, lust over them, and entertain the idea of splurging on them, but I've gradually learned my lesson that I rarely ever actually use them to their full extent. Sure, they're convenient, but I hardly ever use every shade that comes in the palette (unless they're customizable of course), so they end up being more trouble than they're worth to lug around. So to save room for more tempting beauty splurges, I made an unofficial makeup resolution to just swear off palettes altogether... you know, unless a real must-have came around.

Well, what do you know? Enter
Urban Decay's newest must-have -- the "Naked" Palette, a set of 12 shadows that are neutral yet saturated, sparkly, and metallic. I know, it sounds crazy that the one palette that's making me change my mind about palettes altogether is one full of neutral shades, of all things... but it's gorgeous! Not only are all 12 shades totally wearable for just about anyone (hel-lo, so practical!), but they're all shades I would totally buy separately and use all the time. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but the compact itself is totally sexy! Unfortunately, we have to wait until August 1st for its arrival at Sephora and Ulta, so we'll see if I'm still dying to buy it!

From left to right: Virgin (satin chamois), Sin (champagne), Naked (matte buff nude), Sidecar (cocoa with golden sparkle sheen), Buck (matte nutmeg), Half Baked (subtle, lustrous bronze), Smog (deep coppery bronze), Darkhorse (bronze patina), Toasted (rich copper), Hustle (plum brown satin), Creep (onyx with gold sparkle), and Gunmetal (gunmetal gray with silver glitter). - Alex Gambardella
