For any Queen Latifah fan, her 80's rap anthem, U.N.I.T.Y is the one timeless song that will forever be associated with the talented rapper-turned actress-turned CoverGirl spokeswoman.
I recently attended a fabulous viewing party at the TriBeCa Grand Hotel called to view a new video web series series called “The Road to U.N.I.T.Y”.
Queen Latifah partnered with Cover Girl Queen Collection & Cover Girl Natural Hue Concealer to hand pick five beautiful and talented up-and-coming hip hop artists to re-record her hit song, U.N.I.T.Y. During this inspiring journey, Queen filmed 10 webisodes, “The Road to U.N.I.T.Y”, featuring the girls (and some of her other inspirations including MC Lyte and Yo-Yo). Queen, herself, appears in the video and comments on the state of music and hip-hop. This poignant and incredible web series is now featured on the COVERGIRL Facebook page.
I was able to see all of their stories, plus hear Queen, Yo Yo, MC Lyte, and Rage talk about what it's like to be a female in the man's world of hip-hop. The five girls demonstrated not only amazing rapping skills as diverse as southern rap, more poetic rap to eclectic rap/rock sounds, but also beautiful beauty looks thanks to CoverGirl. You're definately going to want to check it out!
I also got a sneak peek at the new Queen Collection Lip Color (launching in January 2011) along with one of my beauty industry favs, celebrity makeup artist, Sam Fine. More coming soon on the lip color collection as well! - RLB
