I absolutely LOVED the hair from Rodarte Fall/Winter 2011 show. It featured windswept voluminous hair - but with a delightful twist in the back with the side swept braid.
Aveda lead stylist Odile Gilbert was inspired by the Rodarte collection which evokes the pastoral beauty of the Great Plains during the golden hours of dawn and dusk. She wanted to create a windswept look with natural texture —"like a girl in the plains was caught in a windstorm and left with beautiful hair," says Gilbert.
According to Gilbert, this look can be easily recreated with the following steps:
1. Scrunch (shoulder length or longer) hair with Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and creating a strong part of the left side of the head.
2. Separate a two-inch piece of hair from the top, right side and twist it above the right ear, securing with a bobby pin so that it softly swoops over the right eye.
3. Pull a small section of hair from the hairline at the back of the head and another from in front of the ear, and then braid them together on the side of the head. Use Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray to set the look. - RLB
