Katy Perry made a spectacular three wardrobe changes (and won Video of the Year for her song "Firework") at last night's MTV Video Music Awards. Along with two of her outfits (one of them shown left), she sported an adorable original Minx nail design created by celebrity manicurist, Kimmie Kyees.
If you look closely at Katy's nails, you'll notice that her nails had great significance and went along with the theme of her outfit which was - "Breaking Records".
Each nail shows a tiny personalized image of a record at the nail bed, symbolizing each of the five hit singles from her “Teenage Dream” album that propelled Katy into music history, as she is the first female to have five songs from the same album at No.1 on the Hot 100 (Michael Jackson was the only other artist to achieve this by the way).
Los Angeles celebrity nail stylist Kimmie Kyees designed the custom Minx, using a black and white-checkered background to contrast with the blue and pink-labeled records that had “Katy” and “Perry” written on them in script. Katy Perry is the only woman in the history of Billboard to have five songs from the same album at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Michael Jackson is the only other artist to have achieved this.
