Beauty Event - Nuance by Salma Hayek Product Launch

One of the first stories Salma Hayek told last week during an intimate luncheon I attended for the launch of her CVS beauty line, Nuance, was a beauty tip her Grandmother shared with her growing up: "Before you go to bed at night, put your lipstick and eye makeup on your nightstand. Then, make sure you wake up 15 minutes before your husband, apply your makeup, and get back into the bed. When you husband wakes up, he will see your beautiful face and assume you always look that way!"

This was one of many wonderful stories Salma shared with us about her life. Salma was absolutely stunning, charming and much younger looking than her 45 years in person (no surprise). She was also a wealth of knowledge about the healing and nurturing herbs and plants from her native Mexico that were incorporated into the skincare, haircare and cosmetic products. It also turns out she spent over 10 years working on the line (BIG surprise!).

The products, which span from skin care and body care, to hair and color cosmetics include tepezcohuite, a tree bark extract that grows in southern Mexico and Brazil and is known for regenerating red blood cells and for it's antiaging abilities. Salma learned about this beauty secret from her Grandmother, who was a cosmetologist.

In the coming weeks I'll be sharing with you some of my favorite product picks from the Nuance line (there are over 100 items in total!), but I can tell you that two products have already stood out for me from their exceptional performance. The Nuance Salma Hayek Oxygen Activated Foaming Face Wash is made with mimosa (tepezcohuite), blue agave, camapu & prickly pear extracts. My face felt so fresh, clean and soft after using this self-foaming gel formula. Just a tiny amount (smaller than a pea) is needed to cleanse the entire face and the scent is light and pretty.

The second product I can't get enough of is the Color Vibrance Lipstick in "My Favorite" 145 Lipstick shade (Salma's actual favorite shade in the line) which is the perfect "Your Lips But Better" color (pictured, left). It's a beautiful pinkish brown with a touch of red that works with all skin tones, hydrating with the perfect touch of sheen.)
