Illamasqua's Theater of the Nameless Fall/Winter 2011 collection is influenced by the idea of a nocturnal den of the dissident leaders of underworld subcultures, where exotic dancers rub shoulders with actors and anarchists.
The tones of the collection are darkly sophisticated accompanied by shocks of dazzling iridescence and kinky rubber-look finishes. For the nail varnishes that are part of the collection, the 4 unique Fall shades also have satin, not glossy finish.
What this means is that they have created them to replicate a rubberized finish. When the colors dry, they really do look like you've put tiny pieces of colored "rubber" on them. It's not quite a "matte look", but it's not your traditional shiny finish either. If you are looking for something fresh and different, then you'll have to apply a similar finish top coat to maintain that look. If you like it shiny, then applying a high shine top coat with alter the appearance.
These polishes have a thin consistency, but apply very smoothly and it did not streak on my nails. Kink (shown above), is my favorite color in the collection, a rich, deep Forest green that looks true to the shade in the bottle with two coats. I think this is one of the more versatile shades in the collection. It will appeal to those of you looking for a dark shade without shimmer/glitter, that's not a black/blue, as well as those of you who like greens, and are really to go a little darker. It's slightly edgy and chic at the same time.- RLB *For great pics of Kink on the nails, head over to my fellow beauty blogger AllLacqueredUp.
