I'm sure you've seen the print or television ads with beauties Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez for L'Oreal True Match Foundation.
And if you're anything like me you might have thought: "Of COURSE it's going to look great on them, with their near perfect skin, plus amazing lighting, etc...."

But I have to say I was overwhelmingly surprised by how great this drugstore foundation is.
The first thing that took a little getting used to was my actual color category in this foundation line.  You see, normally, I am defined as a "warm" undertone
with a great deal of yellow/orange color in the mix. However, the shade that provided a near perfect match, in L'Oreal's system, was a "cool" shade - C6 (Soft Sable).

So once I got past that little difference I was ready to dive into road testing this foundation.
With combination skin, leaning towards more oily in my t-zone in the summer months, this medium coverage formula provided the perfect finish of slightly matte/slightly dewy, but not unnaturally so.
The consistency of the foundation is slightly more liquidly than I expected, but was silky smooth and lightweight on my skin.  There is a very fine shimmer included which brightened up my skin tone almost imperceptibly, but still looked very natural, even in daylight.  I loved applying it with my fingers, but also got a great finish using a foundation brush.

The packaging may be a little "low-tech" by today's standards - glass bottle with no pump.  But it does contain a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 17, which I appreciate.  Like it's name suggests, this foundation is very easy to blend, is buildable, and it has a great amount of pigment and "slip" so only about a dime's worth gave me perfect everyday coverage.

The staying power was also very impressive -  even through heat and humidity, and the color stayed true during the day. It didn't clog my pores, or aggravate my skin in any way. I loved how healthy and fresh this made my skin look.  If you have very oily skin, you may find that a setting or shine control powder will better help you keep a matte look during the day.

I would say the coverage was so good, that if you have fairly even skin and no major dark circles/ blemishes, you can get away with just using this foundation without any concealer. Yay! - RLB
P.S. The newly expanded color range in this foundation line is also VERY impressive and inclusive to all skin tones...so brown girls, don't be afraid to give it a try too!
