Drugstore Buy of the Week - Scaraway Silicone Scar Sheets

Now that it's September and Fall is right around the corner, it's time to tell you that for the last 4 months of summer, I've been getting rid of something...

A scar on my foot that just annoyed me.  I wanted to see if I could reduce the size/appearance in time for summer sandals, flip flops etc.

I was introduced to ScarAway Silicone Scar Sheets in Spring and wanted to give them a good test run. Now I going to give you my take on them.

My scar was about a year old, but fairly flat, so figured I could get at least some improvement from these sheets.  And I was right - every night before bed I applied the sheet on my foot which had a self adhesive material. This gave me a good 6-8 hours of application time each day.Sometimes on the weekends I would leave them on for a few more hours before leaving for the day.

ScarAway Silicone Scar Sheets are 1.5 x 3 (they can also be cut if you need it for a smaller area), very thin, lightweight and completely flexible, so they can be applied to areas like fingers/knees, etc. Since they look like a bandaid, these are great for also concealing a scar in a very visible area while it's healing as well.

Within about a week, while the size and color of my scar had not changed, I did notice that the texture was much smoother and closer to the skin on the rest of my foot, and it was noticeably flatter.
Encouraged by this, I continued to used them for the remainder of the summer.  My skin was not irritated or dried out by the product, and what I loved was that about 2 months in, the color had lightened and the size was shrinking as well. These sheets have a unique technology which allows you to wash them, which kept them not only hygienic, but also a great cost saver.

All I had to do was wash them with a mild hand soap and then put it into the case supplied for them to dry.  It's important to note that won't stick to skin if they are still damp.  TIP: If you're in a rush and want to apply them right away, you can blot out the moisture with a thick, absorbent towel.  However, the area on your skin where you are applying the strips must be clean and dry as well (no moisturizer or oil either!)

I would highly recommend these sheets for those of you who have recent/older scars as a result of surgeries, accidents, problematic shoes, etc.  These are a must have for your medicine cabinet and also for any mishaps with little ones as well. - RLB

Note: It is very important to read the instructions completely for this product to be most effective.  These can be used on anyone 3 years or older.
