Beauty Find - Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette

Contour and Highlighting are probably two of the most significant ways to enhance your face and features.  And many of my favorite makeup artists are masters at it.

But in everyday life, for the average woman, the idea of contouring and highlighting can often be intimidating or downright perplexing to pull off in a way that flatters - but still looks natural.

If this describes you, then you'll love my latest beauty find, the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette.

This palette is simply one of the BEST contour and highlighting palettes I've come across in a long time.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. features 3 different highlighter powders and 3 contouring powders that will work on all skin tones.  The texture of the powders is very finely milled, smooth (very creamy) and silky, which allowed me to apply these easily and blend without very much effort at all.  All the powders are matte and are a blend of cool/warm tones, so they effortless work on their own, or if needed, blended together.

The powders have a lot of pigment, so just 1 light touch into the pan with the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Face Brush is all I needed to add highlighting or contouring. If you're looking for a more dramatic effect, these also layer well and are easily buildable.

This is a fantastic buy as well, as you can use the 6 different shades for various effects, or switch them as needed by season (when your complexion is lighter or darker).  If you're a makeup artist - either just starting out or established, you would do well to also invest in this palette - your clients will not be disappointed.

I also highly recommend using the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Face Brush (sold separately), with this palette. The double ended brush has an angled end that makes it very easy to apply the powder along the hollows of your cheeks and temples.  The other rounded end is perfect for applying highlighting powder with precision and little fall out or mess.  The brush hairs are super soft, white-tipped synthetic bristles on both ends, its gradient brush hairs expertly pick up and diffuse high-pigment powders for seamless blending.

The brush hairs didn't shed and picked up a lot of product from the pan.The brush handle has a nice weight (not too heavy or light) and fit easily in my hand. Tip: The case will not close unless you put the brush in the right way shade/light way first. If you try to put it in the opposite way it will not close because the" light" end of the brush sticks up. Also, make sure the lines on the brush handle line up and sit right on top of the cradle (the areas cut out to hold the brush in place) or the case will not close either.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Face Brush also comes in a quite "unique" bush holder packaging, in the shape of a coffin (it's lightweight and plastic so it's easy to travel with and don't have to worry about damaging, getting wet, etc.).  I love having a case like this, and it's a memorable beauty packaging - that's for sure!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette and Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Face Brush are two fantastic investments for your beauty collection you'll keep reaching for over and over again.- RLB
