Whenever I learn about a makeup product that is transparent or a "universal" color, I'm always skeptical. It's quite a large task to create a shade that blends seamlessly with skin tones light and dark - also taking into account various undertones.
But the maker of the beauty cult classic moisturizer, Embryolisse, has taken up the challenge and launched their version of a BB Cream, Embryolisse Secret de Maquilleurs BB Cream SPF 20. They've created a BB Cream that has a slight tint that works with all skin tones, along with enough moisture to work for drier skins. Combined with an SPF 20 and a velvety smooth matte finish, and this is indeed one of the best BB Creams for light coverage and/or to serve as a multipurpose primer.
The primer looks like a pinky/tan cream out of the tube, but once I smoothed it on my skin, it did indeed blend seamlessly and absorbed quickly into my skin. My skin felt extremely soft and smooth and very hydrated (as Embryolisse formulations are known for), without looking oily or greasy. While not exactly a blurring cream, the finish did have a bit of a soft focus filter effect, while also giving my skin a lovely "lit from within" glow. The formula is lightweight and fairly concentrated, so depending on how much you need, you can get away with about a dime-sized worth for your entire face, or slightly less if you're using it just as a primer.
I liked using this as a primer under a light foundation, or on weekends, on it's own with a touch of concealer under the eyes. For the most part, you should have fairly good skin tone to wear this on its own (no major discolorations, blemishes, large pores or deep lines). But if you don't need much extra help, this gives skin a beautiful finish, and very natural, flattering coverage.
For those of you who like multi-tasking makeup that makes it look like "you're not wearing any" **wink wink** - this will be your best friend! - RLB
