|Gucci Bamboo Eau de Parfum Spray|
Earlier this summer I had the opportunity to preview the memoir of Patricia Gucci, (the daughter of the man who made Gucci into a global fashion brand, Aldo Gucci), In the Name of Gucci: A Memoir
It one of the best memoirs I've ever read with its fascinating story of the founding of the Gucci empire, generations of family drama, Italian history, the complicated relationship with her parents and extended family made this a moving and memorable read. In In the Name of Gucci: A Memoir, Patricia also shares the story of how the iconic Gucci Bamboo came to be a part of their luxury bag line many years ago.

Just a few weeks after I finished the book. I was able to test Gucci's newest scent, Gucci Bamboo, which was inspired by the iconic Gucci Bamboo detail and patterns on their bags and accessories. I was thrilled not only with the timing - but with the lovely floral, woody scent as well. Like a beautiful Gucci Bamboo bag, the bottle is also stunning, luxurious and a beautiful ode to the Gucci house.
The opening of Gucci Bamboo is quite strong, but I loved how it enveloped me with a burst of citrus from the Bergamot notes, along with lots of (soft) floral from the Casablanca Lilly. The combination was sparkling, energizing and feminine at the same time.
Gucci Bamboo developed nicely on my skin during the day, keeping that dry, woody quality, with light bursts of floral. It never became overly floral or woody or smoky. The dry down was slightly spicy, with a consistent dryness and warm sandalwood. The lasting power was fantastic (7+ hours) before any sort of touch up was needed. I've started using this in the warm summer months but this will work just as well in the Fall and Winter.
This is a sophisticated and elegant scent for the woman who loves Gucci and those of you looking for a long lasting, chic scent made for day or night. - RLB
