Carol's Daughter Palacinka Product Rating Guide
Tester: African-American with naturally kinky, dry hair and very long dreadlocks. "This is a wonderful product for my hair. The rosemary mint is fantastic and my hair just soaks up the moisturizing properties of this shampoo. It's nice and thick, lathers well and the mint is tingly and refreshing on my scalp with is a nice benefit." T.D. Tester: Multi-Ethnic (German & African) with naturally tightly coiled curly hair and shoulder length dreadlocks. "This shampoo smells delightful, and the scent lasts all day in my hair. It smells a bit like beer or tea, with some tropical scents (guava, passion fruit, and mango) thrown in. Note: It's not a high lathering shampoo due to the all natural properties. The consistency is on the thin side so I would have love to have had a thin spout on the bottle for better application. Since using this product, my hair looks healthy, fresher and has a nice sheen naturally when it dries." H.O. Go--> Carol's Daughter Tui Herbal Shampoo This product gets 3 "Palacinka Points" *

Dread Wax A good dread wax with a nice strong hold is key to great dreadlocks. When you use wax use a small amount at a time and work it in completely. Wax holds the hair together and facilitates the locking process. Some waxes are enriched with vitamins and nutrients that help the hair grow strong and prevent breakage. Dread Cream Wax is great for starting dreadlocks in straighter/wavier hair textures that need lots of hold, but it is often thicker than necessary and hard to apply to highly textured/kinky hair types. Creams are usually better suited to textured hair which needs less hold. Specialized loc creams focus on keeping the hair properly moisturized and giving the hair the nutrients it needs to form strong, healthy locs. Avoid creams that contain petroleum. They tend to lubricate the hair and slow the dreading process. Dread Shampoo Wash dreads in residue free soaps and shampoos. These shampoos will also help dreads get tighter than they otherwise could by removing residue from the strand themselves. Clean strands can lock tighter and faster than those that carry residue. Aveda Palacinka Product Rating Guide
Tester: Hispanic (Cuban) with naturally thick, normal wavy hair and very long dreadlocks. "I like this product and found myself reaching for it regularly...but I did find that I had to go easy on it...just a teensy dab is enough for my whole head of hair--and I've got a ton of thick dreads. I put it on when my hair is almost completely dry. The gloss really softened up my dread ends which often become brittle and frizzy. An added plus is that it gives an absolutely gorgeous aroma. This kept my locs smooth and supple with a nice sheen, without looking greasy or attracting dust which can sometimes happen with some products." T.N. Don't you think your friend would love it if you told her about Aveda Pure-Fume Brilliant Emolliant Finishing Gloss? Tester: African-American with naturally kinky, dry hair and very long dreadlocks "I love this shampoo and so do my dreads! The earthy smell is wonderful, and it keeps my dreaded hair (naturally kinky) from drying out. The thing is, you still need a normal sized amount in your hand! It left my hair feeling clean but not dry or stripped. The shampoo lathers well (very creamy) too. I really love this!" T.D. Go--> Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo This product gets 3 "Palacinka Points" *

Knotty Boy Palacinka Product Rating Guide Tester: Multi-Ethnic (German & African) with naturally tightly coiled curly normal/dry curly hair and shoulder-length dreadlocks. This wax The wax comes in two different colors light or dark; one for those with light hair and another for dark hair. This is an all-natural beeswax/hempseed oil dread goop, specifically designed for starting and maintaining dreadlocks with ANY kind of hair. It's a great conditioner for already-formed locks, and works miracles on dry, damaged dreads. H.O. Go--> Knotty Boy Dread Wax This product gets 3 "Palacinka Points" *
Don't you think your friend would love it if you told her about Knotty Boy Dread Wax? Tester: Hispanic (Cuban) with naturally thick normal wavy hair and very long dreadlocks. "What a great way to clean dreads. The smell is so fresh and clean and it's an all-natural, herbal shampoo bar that utilizes the naturally germicidal and anti-bacterial properties of tea tree, rosemary, and peppermint essential oils to help eliminate flaky dandruff and itchy scalp conditions. It was easy to use and lathers nicely. In addition, it cleansed well without loosening up my dreads. The lather which the bar soap produces really gets in the scalp and the upkeep afterwards is minimal. Only drawback- the soap seams to disappear really fast!" T.N. Tester: West Indian (Jamaican) with naturally kinky, dry hair and has newly formed dreadlocks. "This was perfect to help with some of my looser dreads that needed a little tightening. This product utilizing an age-old natural dreadlock accelerating ingredient, pure aloe vera gel and citrus juices, and combined in a smoothie of vitamins, hempseed oil and other good stuff for maximum hair repair. This gel smells great and is a light, wash-out formula. I also loved how it controlled any frizzies I might have around the edge of my hairline. And, of course, it's all-natural! Note: apply with a light hand and add more if needed, as too much product can leave some white flakes after it completely dries." F.H. "What a great relief for itchy scalp! Whenever I felt like I need to refresh my locs, or just calm an itchy scalp in between shampoos, I just spritzed a little Knotty Boy Peppermint Cooling Moisture Spray onto my head for instant relief! This is a tingly all-natural blend of pure peppermint essential oil, soothing aloe vera extract, nourishing hempseed oil and other natural ingredients designed to cool irritated scalps, and condition and moisturize dried-out dreadlocks. It made my hair smell like a freshly picked mint leaves. Knotty Boy is the way to go!" T.N. Go--> Knotty Boy Cooling Spray This product gets 4 "Palacinka Points" *

Dread FX Palacinka Product Rating Guide Tester: West Indian (Jamaican) with naturally kinky dry hair and has newly formed dreadlocks. "This wax is colorless, as opposed to some on the market which are "Light" or "Dark". With this wax. It is absorbed right into my hair. No need to worry about stains on your clothes, pillows or all over your friends when you're hanging out. It didn't' attract any dust, make my dreads look dull or hard and best of all it as great natural ingredients like hemp seed oil, beeswax and grapeseed oil. This is perfect for "training" your new dreads or redoing loosening ones." F.H. Go--> Dread FX - Knotting Wax This product gets 4 "Palacinka Points" *
Don't you think your friend would love it if you told her about Dread FX - Knotting Wax? Tester: West Indian (Jamaican) with naturally kinky dry hair and has newly formed dreadlocks. "I like to wash my hair at least twice a week and this was a new experience for me using a bar and opposed to a liquid shampoo formula, but I was very pleased with the results. The bar contains Hemp seed Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Peppermint, Green Tea, Rosemary and Lemon grass. This cleansed my dreads well, yet still kept the hair knotted enough for the dreadlocks to keep put. I also loved the smell and my hair felt very soft and moisturized. Great product!" F.H. Go--> DreadFX Shampoo This product gets 4 "Palacinka Points" *
